The experts who can’t tell if CHAT is an extinction risk or just a mindless bot that can’t tell a turtle from a spoon are going to tell us what’s “fair”! We’re breathlessly awaiting their pronouncements. There’s a lot of upside here, since it’s safe to say the high pay of technologists ensures they know pretty much everything about everything, so even though they lack even the most rudimentary training in what’s “fair” we should feel obliged to accept their unerringly insightful judgements.
This is off topic from the subject of the above post, but . . . there are different concerns regarding the chatbots. Gary Smith does not seem to be concerned that they are an extinction risk; his concern is that the hype about the bots can lead to people trusting them too much, leading to bad decisions.
