Hey! Here’s a surprisingly fascinating discussion of copyright of transformed images!

I don’t usually just link to stuff on our blogroll—after all, you can just go there and check things out whenever you want—but this post by Chris Gavaler was really interesting so I wanted to share it with you.

It features:

Lynne Goldsmith
Prince
Andy Warhol
the U.S. Supreme Court
Marilyn Monroe
Eugene Korman
somebody named Soglin
Barack Obama
Mannie Garcia
Shepard Fairey
Miles Davis
Jay Maisel
Andy Baio
swipers in comics
Pablo Picasso
Angela Corey
Rick Wilson
George Zimmerman

Interesting and thoughtful, with lots of pictures.

    • This page (before my comment) is currently about 77,000 bytes, appearing the way it does on your screen due to an algorithm implemented by your web browser. Afaik, it is possible to write an algorithm to interpret those same bytes as any arbitrary 240 x 320 8-bit grayscale image (76,800 bytes).
