New blog hosting!

Hi all. We’ve been having some problems with the blog caching, so that people were seeing day-old versions of the posts and comments. We moved to a new host and a new address, https://statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu, and all should be better.

Still a couple glitches, though. Right now it doesn’t seem to be possible to comment. We hope to get that fixed soon (unfortunately it’s Friday evening and I don’t know if anyone’s gonna look at it over the weekend), will let you know when comments work again. Regularly scheduled posts will continue to appear.

Comments work too now!

This blog started out at columbia.edu and was there for many years. I put it on andrewgelman.com at one point when switching blog hosting. But ultimately it is a work blog and so it makes sense for it to have a work address. The content is unaffected in any case.

      • You’re missing the point, you’ve created a “brand” as one of the single most influential academic bloggers, with the best comment section on the internet, and you’re walking away from that recognizable brand to plop yourself somewhere semi-anonymously onto the website of a university you happen to work for. It’s as if Disney suddenly decided to put all their content under content.variouscontentproviders.us or something

    • Up until now, the summary of a post on the main page would display one total for the comments, but when you clicked through to the post page the number would usually be higher. Now, the number on the post page matches what the main page said there would be. How do I regain access to the secret bonus comments?

  1. Test to see if I can post from Firefox. Also, I still see the post from Oct 2018 on RStudio as the current post. May be a caching problem because on Safari it shows the current post.
